Day 124 - Willie, Willie, Willie

Ben and Jerry has a new flavor, Willie Nelson's Peach Cobbler. The ice cream is slightly evil (I have no power over it's siren call), just like the food at his restaurant, Texas Roadhouse. A perfect evening would be a steak dinner followed by this ice cream. Num...

Day 84 - It May Be Chicken But It Tastes Like Fish

My husband sweetly decided to make dinner, there were just a few problems. He wanted to make orange chicken with carrots which takes a total of 30 minutes on top of the stove.

1. He baked chicken breasts for 3 1/2 hours
2. He didn't make an orange sauce, he cut up an orange and baked it with the chicken, peel and all.
3. He baked something acidic in a cast iron pot so it took on a metallic taste.
4. He never tasted the dish before serving it.

We gamely sat down to eat but I cracked after a few bites. I started laughing uncontrollably and declared it one of the 10 worst meals ever, even the dogs rejected it.

This was right up there with the radish kabobs he made but didn't beat the rice surprise we had at an acquittance's house.

We were excited to go to this couple's home to try their authentic African cuisine. He made a soup with fish heads and there was a rice dish with an entire fish, including scales, covered with a bed of rice. I was the first served so I go to scoop out some rice and hit a solid object. The spoon included a healthy portion of fish scales, skin and reveled a fish looking up at me.

Lunch - chicken and asparagus
Dinner - ugh....
